Gaming Rig

Well... I've been saving money for a car for months now.

I've racked up to about $1,400.

Meanwhile, TurboTax's 2009 Calculator predicts a $1,200 tax return for me.
So I planned to build a Gaming Rig with my Tax return. However my plans have changed.
I've decided, since I'm having a hard time finding the car I want right now, to hold off on that until I get my tax return. And I've decided to spend $1,107.70 on building the most amazing computer I've ever owned and the most money I've ever spent on anything in my life.

Then by the time I get my tax return and save some more money from work, I'll be right back where I started, probably better. I'm guessing by Feb 10th or so, I'll have $1,600 or so. Then it's back to Car hunting.

But for now, OMFG. Did I build a computer.

ATL-955
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 3.2GHz #955
MoBo: Foxconn Destroyer
RAM: G.Skill 4GB DDR2 1066MHz
GPU: [PNY] Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 1GB
PSU: Coolermaster 700w >80% Certified Modular cables
Monitor: Asus Full HD 23" 1920x1080 5ms 20000:1 Contrast Ratio
HDD1: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
HDD2: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s

[Already owned, Coolermaster Centurion 5 black/blue case]

This is a slightly more powerful variation to another build I did for my Uncle.

Differences:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.7GHz CPU
Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX+ 512MB GPU
Different PSU, don't remember and basically the same harddrives.

Flash Countdown

Well I've made some headway in my flash project.

The coding has been the biggest hump to get over. I've been working mainly on that. So I'm just now attempting to start working on the "interface". As the code is, relatively functional. Well, it's functional. Just not the way I want it. Right now it counts down to a date. I plan to create a input dialog box for how long the counter should last. (EG. 12 hours, 15 minutes, etc) instead of date based countdown.

Also working on how I could possibly get it to remove the 0's / empty place holders and have it center like the destiny does. And then the critical time left red font, is a whole 'nother issue to tackle.

Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century

This is one of many cartoons I used to watch on Saturday mornings, when Saturday morning cartoons were still awesome. The movie brought this nostalgia moment on.

Meanwhile, I've decided to abandon my facebook account. I feel it was indeed nothing more than a time waster. I feel I need to focus more time on more important things. Like actually using this blog. And other online stuff, that doesn't involve my work life. Which is all the life I have outside of the net, for now.

I'm sure things will change in 2010. And hopefully moreso in the following year. Once I finally make a few more big changes in my life, I can just feel the rest falling into place.

Well that's all for now. Going to work on a few digital projects before work @ 4p.
